How I Get More Paid Market Research Studies (Without Spending Hours Looking)

make money with market research

If you’ve ever signed up to a market research website and then wondered why nothing seems to happen… you’re not alone.

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is relying on just one market research company.

They sign up, wait for an email, don’t hear anything for weeks, and assume there aren’t many opportunities.

The reality is completely different.

The people who regularly earn £100, £200 or even more each month from market research usually aren’t doing anything clever…

They’re simply registered with lots of different research companies.

Why You Should Join More Than One Market Research Company

Every market research company works with different clients.

One week, Askable might be recruiting parents of toddlers.

The next week, Podengo could be looking for people who own electric cars.

Another company might be recruiting gamers, coffee drinkers, NHS workers or people who recently bought a sofa.

No single company has every opportunity.

So if you’re only checking one website, you’re missing out on dozens of studies every month.

Think of it like fishing.

Would you rather have one fishing rod…

…or twenty?

My Favourite UK Market Research Companies

Here are some of the companies I’ve either used myself or regularly see recommended by experienced market research participants.

These companies recruit for all kinds of paid research including:

  • Online interviews
  • Zoom focus groups
  • Product testing
  • Website usability testing
  • In-person focus groups
  • Telephone interviews
  • Diary studies
  • Shopping research

Many studies pay anywhere from £40 to £150, while specialist or longer studies can pay considerably more.

My Best Tip: Create a Bookmark Folder

This is honestly the biggest game changer.

Instead of trying to remember every website…

Create a bookmarks folder in your browser.

Call it something like:

⭐ Paid Research

⭐ Market Research

⭐ Side Hustles

Then save every market research website inside it.

Now, whenever you have five spare minutes, click the folder and open every site.

It takes almost no effort.

Don’t Just Wait for Emails

Lots of companies email opportunities.

But not all of them.

Some publish studies directly on their websites first.

Others fill studies so quickly that by the time the email lands in your inbox, all the places have gone.

That’s why I like checking the websites myself every day or two.

Five minutes is usually enough.

Remember: You Won’t Qualify for Every Study

This catches lots of people out.

Being turned down isn’t personal.

Researchers are looking for very specific groups of people.

For example, they might only need:

  • Women aged 30–40
  • Android users
  • Dog owners
  • People who’ve switched banks recently
  • Parents with babies under one year old
  • Small business owners

If you don’t fit the criteria, they’ll choose someone else.

That’s completely normal.

The trick is simply applying for plenty of studies.

Keep Your Profile Up to Date

Whenever you move house, change jobs, buy a new car or welcome a new baby, update your profiles.

Those little changes could suddenly make you eligible for studies that weren’t available before.

The more accurate your profile is, the more invitations you’re likely to receive.

The Numbers Game

Imagine you’re signed up to just one research company.

Perhaps you qualify for one study every couple of months.

Now imagine you’re registered with 15 companies.

Suddenly you’re seeing ten or twenty times as many opportunities.

You still won’t qualify for all of them.

But you’ll qualify for far more than before.

That’s exactly how many experienced market research participants steadily earn extra money each month.

My Simple Weekly Routine

Here’s my routine:

✔ Check my bookmark folder every morning with my coffee.

✔ Apply for anything I qualify for.

✔ Answer screening questions honestly.

✔ Keep my calendar free if I’m shortlisted.

The whole process takes less than ten minutes most days.

Final Thoughts

Market research isn’t a guaranteed income, but it’s one of my favourite side hustles because the hourly rates can be excellent.

The biggest secret isn’t finding one amazing company.

It’s joining lots of genuine companies, checking them regularly and applying consistently.

Small habits really do add up—and before long, those £50 here and £80 there payments can make a noticeable difference to your wallet.
